The Narrative Theory
- Equilibrium Phase: The protagonists are spending their final night on vacation in Mexico. A stranger they meet at a bar invites them to an abandoned church after close. He then suggests they play an innocent game of Truth or Dare. Everyone takes a turn.
- Disruption Phase: Once everyone is back home, each player is summoned to play in the same order they played together in Mexico. They experience dilusions where the faces around them morph and ask "Truth or Dare?" until they answer. The questions either ask them to reveal their biggest secrets or require them to perform dangerous tasks.
- Realization Phase: When certain players do not take the game seriously, they become possessed and are forced to kill themselves. This is when everyone realizes the seriousness of the matter. They decide they must find other current/past players in order to get answers and hopefully end the game alive.
- Restored Order Phase: They visit an elderly woman who tells them how the demon's game can be stopped. To do so, the living protagonists must find the man they met in Mexico. They take him back to the mission church, order him to repeat a foreign ritual, and tell him to cut out his tongue and place it in a special pot. However, before the man can do so, he is killed. Calex reveals there is not another way to end the game and they must continue playing.
- Equilibrium Restored Phase: The two final players post a video inviting hundreds of strangers to play with them. This buys them more time before it is once more their turns.
